Common Plumbing Issues Affecting Businesses

October 7, 2020

Plumbing Problems At The Workplace

Regardless of the type of business, unchecked water leaks can lead substantial loss of revenue, a waste of a precious resource, water, and could potentially create an unsafe environment for employees and guests.  There are three types of water leaks that are common across all businesses.

  • Leaky faucets:  While leaky faucets may seem innocent enough, they can result in the loss of thousands of gallons of water each year. That translates to not only a waste of a precious resource, water, but also money. Paying for water you never use comes right off your financial bottom line!

  • Toilets:  It should come as no surprise that toilets in a commercial setting get a lot of use.  Of course, the larger your business, the greater the use. And with heavy use, internal parts can become worn over time and can potentially lead to toilets that run continuously. Just as with leaky faucets, a toilet that runs can waste thousands of gallons of water each year.  Again, it is a waste of a precious resource and it has a financial impact on your bottom line.

  • Leaking pipes: Leaking water pipes are also a potential source of water and revenue loss. Additionally, leaking water pipes can lead to structural damage and the development of mold.  Both of which could lead to significant safety issues.  Many water leaks are easy to spot such as leaks under sinks or toilets as well as any exposed pipes within your facility. However, leaking pipes that are concealed behind walls or above ceilings are much more difficult to detect.  Three clues to hidden water leaks include: A sudden increase in your water bill; An unexplained decrease in your water pressure; and/or the appearance of water stains either on ceiling tiles or drywall

Most commercial plumbing issues can be easily and inexpensively resolved by professionally-trained commercial plumbers.

While this article primarily addresses water leaks; clogged toilets, clogged drains and sewer blockages can also lead to revenue loss as well as structural and safety issues.
